Presenter

Habitat Unite/TU Berlin

In a partnership with Habitat-Unit from TU Berlin and Ein Shams University in Cairo, we hosted a delegation of scholars and professionals at our office in Hamburg. We delivered a presentation, Jan Braker and myself, which provided insights on our strategies for incorporating sustainability into our projects, and how our projects progress along the different phases. The presentation was followed by a guided tour with Jan to some of the urban areas in Hamburg that align with the workshop's objectives. This collaborative initiative is made possible through the support of DAAD and is anticipated to span three years, from 2023 to 2026.

Speaker

Archinet-Arab Architecture Week

Today, I gave a virtual public lecture on the ArchiNet platform. My presentation revolved around the swift changes in German policies aimed at addressing the challenges posed by an aging population, with a focus on using educational facilities as catalysts for their communities. I discussed a selection of our completed projects in Hamburg, which have successfully rejuvenated their communities and established new centers for the local residents.
The discussion was fruitful and I was happy to learn that many younger architects were among the audience.

Book Launch-London

I've been invited to present a Pecha Kucha talk at the book launch of 'Everyday Streets: Inclusive Approaches to Understanding and Designing Streets' at the London Metropolitan University-UK

During this event, I will discuss my chapter, which delves into the study of two controversial streets in a neighborhood in Hamburg. Over the course of three years, I've closely examined these streets, witnessing how despite their proximity, they are worlds apart in terms of tradition and acceptance of one another.

If you're in London or know someone who might be interested, please spread the word and join us. The launch is on the 30th of November 2023.

Editors: Agustina Martire, Jane Clossick, Birgit Hausleitner

Publisher: UCL Press
